Lantau Island Theme Park Vection
Lantau Island Hongkong
Hong
Kong's Lantau Island really does have something to offer people of all
ages, as well as offering something of a contrast to the neon bustle of
Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, despite being almost twice the size of
Hong Kong Island with an area of approximately 146m². It is a haven for
those who crave the outdoor life, as it is replete with indigenous
forest, earning the island the epithet of 'The lungs of Hong Kong'. The
clean air is certainly energising, and is a further welcome benefit of
spending time on the island. The terrain is mountainous, and boasts
Lantau Peak, standing at 934m, almost twice the height of Victoria Peak.
Ngong Ping 360
Ngong Ping 360 is destined to be one of Hong Kong's 'must see' tourist
attractions on Lantau Island. Preserving the natural ecological
environment and features of the Ngong Ping area and converging the
custom and culture of the Lantau Island, Ngong Ping 360 is sure to
refresh your body and enlighten your mind, as soon as you step on the
Cable Car. Ngong Ping Cable Car is a visually spectacular 5.7km cable
car journey, travelling between Tung Chung Town Centre and Ngong Ping on
Lantau Island. Visitors will enjoy panoramic views of the Hong Kong
International Airport, South China Sea, the Tian Tan Buddha Statue, as
well as the flora and fauna of North Lantau Country Park.
Po Lin Monastery
Po Lin Monastery is one of the most popular attractions on Lantau
Island, and is also the Buddhism shrine of Hong Kong. It is located on
Ngong Ping Plain, located some 520 meters above sea level. The landscape
around Po Lin Monastery is wonderfully picturesque. Po Lin Monastery
houses many ancient written sutras and enshrines Shariputra. Besides,
the only tea plantation in Hong Kong is located near Po Lin Monastery.
This is wonderful for tea lovers, who can sip tea directly from the
plantation. If you plan to lodge in Po Lin Monastery, you can watch the
sunrise on Lantau Peak, which is 943 meters high and the second highest
peak in Hong Kong.
Hongkong Tiantan Buddha
Tian Tan Buddha can
also be found beside Po Lin Monastery, its construction taking 25
years. Tian Tan Buddha is the highest outdoor bronze sitting Buddha in
the world, standing 34 meters and weighing 250 tons. The face of Buddha
is made of bronze, with a total area of 30m². In 1993, an opening
ceremony was held for the Tian Tan Buddha and it was finally displayed
to the public. Tourists must climb 268 steps to pay homage to the giant
Buddha.
