Terracotta Warriors
and Horses is located 1,500 meters east of Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum. One
figurine first discovered the hole, rectangular, 230 meters from east
to west, north and south, 62 meters wide, about 5 meters deep, with a
total area of 14,260 square meters, surrounded by slopes in doorways
left and right and has a terracotta pits.
Terracotta Warriors and
Horses, also called terracotta army, is known as "the Eighth Wonder of
the World", and is ranked the human cultural heritage of the world.
The
Terracotta Warriors and Horses of the Qin Dynasty shocked the people
all over the world with their magnificent vigor and outstanding carving
art. The No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 pits have been excavated. The terracotta
warriors tour in Xian allow you to see the vivid and lifelike figurines,
each warriors has different features and facial expression. The
warriors on the war chariots, warriors riding horses and infantry
warriors in large numbers formed different combinations in an orderly
and solemn way.
Having pass the second gate, you can see the Pit
No. 1 hall from a distance. There is lawn in front of the hall. A
monument writes Terracotta Warriors Museum.
I enter the Pit No. 1
hall with an exciting feeling. The left side is the entrance. The right
side is the exit. Entering needs the checking. In principle it permits
you entering only one time. Terracotta Warriors Pit No. 1 in front of
me! So great to be an emperor!
The
spectacular life like Terracotta Army can be separated into three pits.
All statues have unique expressions and the armor of each soldier also
varies depending on rank. Moreover, different statues have different
poses and facial expressions all faces were unique. There are a total of
8 types of soldiers.
Generals – The Generals are fewest in
numbers and there is approximately only 10 in one pit. There are two
types of generals, robe generals and armor generals. The robe generals
are dressed more simply with a cockade on the chest. The armor general
on the other hand is dressed in full armor with 8 cockades on the chest,
back and shoulders.
Sergeants – The sergeants are positioned on
the left and right of the chariots and they are dressed in long robes
with outer armor and can be distinguished with their hemp head cloths.
The sergeants were armed with spears and long swords.
Military
Officers – The military officers are separated into different rankings.
There are various forms of armor with some wear single crowns and some
with double crowns.
Cavalry – Cavalry warriors can be found in
pits one and two. The cavalry soldiers wear circular cap, tight sleeve
robes, tapered trousers, ankle boots and small armors.
Charioteers
- The charioteers can be found in all three pits and are dressed in
long robes with outer armor and wear high hats. Their wrists are covered
by Gardebras and legs were protected with leg guards.
Archers –
There are standing archers and kneeling archers in pit two. The standing
archers wear light coat armor with their hair bound up. The kneeling
archers are dressed in the same as the standing archers, kneeling on
their right leg and the detail put into these statues can be seen on the
sole of the archer's shoes where the stitching details have been put
in.
Infantry – The ordinary soldiers can be divided into two
groups depending on their armor. Positioned on the outer circle are the
field robes warriors that are dressed in much more flexible gear and the
armor equipped warriors are in the center.
The Terracotta Army
was first discovered a group of farmers when they were digging a well
for imagination in the spring of 1974. And from then began the
excavation. There are four main pits associated with the terracotta
army. More Xian tour information from China Tour Advisors.

Taking A Yangtze River Tour
Yangtze Cruise Routes
As far as China Tour Advisors concerned, Yangtze cruise is a must experience project that any visitors to the district would not miss, as passengers not only encounter with the prosperous cultural heritages in China but also can enjoy the spectacular vistas along the river, it is once in a life time experience that will echo in one's memory forever. You can choose from Yichang to Chongqing, Chongqing to Yichang, Shanghai to Chongqing and Chongqing to Shanghai, http://www.chinatouradvisors.com/YangtzeRiverCruise/CruiseRoutesList-Yichang-to-Chongqing-0-2-1.html
From Yichang to Chongqing(Upstream)
● Advantages
1. Because it is countercurrent, the average speed of upstream cruise is slower than that of downstream cruise. The former is 16 kph (10 mph) and the latter is 29 kph (18 mph). Slower speed allows passengers to have more time to stay with the attractions and take more photos.
2. Upstream cruise is longer. A longer cruise means that tourists can enjoy more scenery, learn more about the culture and custom on the Yangtze River. The more tourists contact, the more they know about China.
● Disadvantages
1. Cruise ship will sail at night, otherwise it can't reach the shore excursion destination in the daytime to enjoy the attraction. Therefore, it may have some effect on passengers' rest, and some scenery will be missed at night. However, it not affects the whole schedule.
2. In the journey between Chongqing and Shanghai, upstream cruise charges a higher price than that of the downstream cruise. But for most cruise routes, the price is the same (Only Victoria Prince Cruises run between Chongqing and Shanghai).
From Chongqing to Yichang(DownStream)
● Advantages
1. Downstream cruise is shorter than upstream cruise because its speed is faster than the latter's. It is a better choice for travelers who have a short holiday.Downstream cruise makes up the pity that people whose holiday is limited cannot travel Yangtze River.
2.Under normal circumstances, downstream cruise only sail in the daytime. Therefore, passengers can have a sweet sleeping at night, and there is no need to worry about missing some attractions. The arrangement makes tourists be more comfortable and get more pleasure during the journey.
● Disadvantages
Due to the fast speed, passengers will not have complete information about the scenery and not have enough time to take more photos.

Shanghai China The Bund Travels
If you live near the People's Square, I recommend you having a walk
at the Bund in the morning before 8 am. This is the best time to visit
the bund if you would like to quietly experience it and take the bund
for yourself, without being bothered by travel groups, photo taking
touts, car horns.
It is better to start from Yan'an East road, where is the beginning point of all the western buildings left from the colonial period at the Bund. Along the way you will be able to see the "Exhibition of the world's architecture" on the left and Pudong on the right.
A great spot for viewing the scene of the riverside at night is a cafe inside the old meteorological tower. It is located at the intersection between Zhongshan East road and Yan'an East road. The old meteorological tower was the first one in China. It sent out weather reports to the ships passing by. It was deemed "the first tower in the far east". However nowadays just a short tower that is easily overlooked. The first floor of the tower is a museum while the second and third floors are cafe. Go earlier at night and take the sit at the third floor to the side of the river. With a cup of coffee or a beer, you will have the best experience in viewing the night scene of the Bund and Huangpu River.
The "exhibition of the world's architecture" consists of 23 buildings. They were built during the early 19 century. The largest building is the old site of Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC). There are two copper lion statues at the door, one is called Stephen, the other is called Stitt, which were the names of the chief managers of HSBC Hong Kong quarter and Shanghai quarter. However, those two lion statues were imitations, the real ones are exhibited in the museum in the Oriental Pearl Tower. The main hall of the building has 28 stone pillars, four of those are made of seamless marble. There are only 6 such pillars in the world, four is here, the other two is in the Louvre, Paris. The dome has 8 wall paintings, depicting the 8 HSBC branches in 8 cities in the world during that period. Between 2 of the paintings there is the word "we are brothers over the four seas".
Next to the old HSBC building is the customs house. The most famous thing of that building is its bell tower, which is a reproduction of the Big Ben in London. There is one big clock and four smaller clocks. Every 15 minutes the four smaller clocks will ring and every one hour the big clock will ring. The sound is so loud that you can hear it on Binjiang Avenue across the river. More Shanghai travel and top China travels information from China Tour Advisors.

Tour to Three Gorges Dam in Chongqing
Built in 1994 and completed in 2009, the Three Gorges Dam
is the largest water conservancy project ever undertaken by man. The
Three Gorges Dam is located near Sandouping, which is in the middle of
the Xiling Gorge, the longest of the Three Gorges.
The Three Gorges Dam is 2,335m long, 185m high, 18m wide on the top and 130m wide at the bottom. The dam has raised the river to a level of 175 meters above sea level, creating a 600 kilometers long reservoir with storage capacity of 39.9 billion cubic meters extending from the dam site all the way to Chongqing. 570,000 acres of farmland, villages, and cities in 19 counties have been flooded, causing 1.5 million people to be relocated.
The estimate for construction of the project is 26 billion US dollars. The building of this huge dam was for the purpose of flood control, electricity, navigation, and irrigation.
History of the Three Gorges Dam
The idea for the Three Gorges Dam was first proposed by Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, the pioneer of the Republic of China, in 1919. In his article, entitled "A Plan to Development Industry", Sun Yat-Sen mentions the possibility of damming the Yangtze River to help control floods and generate electricity.
In 1944, an American dam expert named J.L. Savage was invited to do field research on possible locations for the project. Two years later, the Republic of China signed a contract with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to design the dam. More than 50 Chinese technicians were then sent to the United States to study and participate in the creation process. However, the project was shortly abandoned due to the Chinese civil war that followed World War II.
Talks of the Three Gorges Dam resurfaced in 1953 due to continuous floods that occurred on the Yangtze that year, killing over 30,000 people. One year later, the planning phase began once more, this time under the collaboration of Soviet experts. After two years of political debates over the size of the dam, the project was finally approved by the Communist Party. Unfortunately, plans for the construction were once again interrupted, this time by the disastrous political campaigns of the "Great Leap Forward" and the "Proletarian Cultural Revolution".
The market reforms introduced by Deng Xiaoping in 1979 emphasized the necessity to produce more electricity for economic growth. With approval from the new leader, the location of the Three Gorges Dam was then officially determined, to be located at Sandouping, a town in the Yiling District of the Yichang prefecture, in the province of Hubei. Finally, on December 14, 1994, 75-years since inception, the construction of the Three Gorges Dam finally began.
Four goals for the Three Gorges Dam Project
1. Flood Control
The history of the Yangtze River includes many devastating floods over the centuries killing thousands of people and causing millions of dollars in damages. The dam will reduce the impacts of flooding since it will have a flood control capacity of 22.15 billion cubic meters.
2. Power Generation
The use of hydroelectric turbine generators will reduce China's dependency on coal, a hydro carbon that produces greenhouse gases. The Three Gorges Dam will produce about 84.6 billion kilowatt hours of clean energy annually.
3. Navigation
The presence of the dam, the reservoir, and the ship locks will allow large ships to travel up and downstream for the first time. Ships from Chongqing will be able to transport goods all the way to the sea at Shanghai.
4. Tourism
Since the Three Gorges Dam Project is the largest hydroelectric dam in the world, it is expected to be popular among tourists visiting China. Three gorges dam tour is a must-do for Chongqing package tour.
The Three Gorges Dam is 2,335m long, 185m high, 18m wide on the top and 130m wide at the bottom.
